Graduation…

Christine and I after the convocation ceremony..

Graduation.. The moment passed so quickly that I still can’t believe that life as a student is officially OVER..! It feels strange. As Marco “rubbed salt into my already painful wounds”, I can’t deny that I’m officially in the REAL world. But that’s another story. This time I’m writing about a significant turning point in life and a tribute to friendship and university life.

First of all, graduation… again. It took me 4 years of studying, 3 months of waiting and 1 day off work for this day to arrive. Interestingly, it all ended in 30 seconds. I’ve named it the most significant 30 seconds in my life as a student. Funny eh? But I’m sure most graduates would echo my words. 4 years of studying is really no joke. That equals to 1461 days or 35,064 hours! The anxiety and stress of meeting deadlines for assignments and the many nights spent burning the midnight oil in preparation for mid-term tests and final exams.. That’s the part that we’re all glad is OVER! However, there’s another part of university life that I miss very much.. FREEDOM and FRIENDSHIP… which will be expanded in my next post.

Slack again..

It’s been a swift 4 months since I started work and my last post. So many things happened.. like graduation, turning 22 and home alone for 1 whole week! Yeah.. Sounds interesting but those are just 3 out of 4 months of sleep-deprived days. Mum keeps telling me, “Now you know what working life is like..” Yes yes, mummy. I get your hidden message.. :-(

I promise in not too long time later I will (I really, really will) upload my grad pictures and tell you more stories. Or you could just check out my Facebook for some glimpses. Oh ya, please please add me in Facebook. Haha…

Adios for now… *muacks*

Slack…

July 24, 2008 at 5:34 pm · Filed under Uncategorized

Hello folks!

I am so sorry I have been slacking in my blog these days. So many things have happened since the day I last wrote. Firstly, as to why I have not been writing: most of the time I was online I was busy playing Maple Story. Ok ok, laugh all you want.. I’m only level 47 despite working hard at it. Unfortunately, I seem to KO more often than I gain EXP. Sigh… Then I have TEMPORARILY HALTED till now..

Then I was busy with my social life, bidding goodbyes and farewells to all my dear uni-mates. Yup, it was time to part ways. Time flies… Three years have passed. Looking back, I can’t quite remember what I have done. Hahaha :-)

That was in May. May 1st to be exact. Labour Day was the day that marked my FREEDOM. Then.. in a VERY SHORT time I was bonded AGAIN (freedom short-lived). I started work at elianto (I know I know my theme is “VERY elianto”) For those who haven’t the slightest idea about elianto: it’s actually a skincare and cosmetics brand. So anyway, yup I started work, earned my first pay (it wasn’t as exhilarating as imagined but still it felt good). Now, I’m awaiting my second pay. Wahaha..

Erm.. so far there’s nothing interesting to talk about my job. But there’s lot to talk about my trip to Langkawi again… Hahaha.. So stay tuned for my next post! (hopefully it won’t be a long time away)

My holiday up north.. of Malaysia la!

October 4, 2007 at 10:06 pm · Filed under Love & Pleasure

Hello everybody again!

I just got back from Kota Bahru yesterday at 1am. Hehe… You must be wondering why of all places Kota Bahru, Kelantan? Well, free tickets from Air Asia ma. So thanks to Air Asia we get to cuti-cuti Malaysia and get to know my home country a little bit better. Therefore, mum, dad and I packed up and started our journey at 5.15am, 27th September 2007.

For starters, I was, or rather, we were ALL, blur and cranky (of course la, we all woke up at 4am!). And never in our lives did we ever have to run to catch a flight, much less Air Asia. But we had to this time. When we arrived at 6.47am, to our horror, the departure screen showed FINAL CALL. We found out that the flight was re-timed to 20mins earlier than recorded in our intinerary. No one informed us about that. So we ran for our lives to catch the plane. Fortunately, we were not the latest. Some came popping in 10-15mins after we caught our breath! Phew..

The flight was about 55mins. We arrived about 45mins later. It’s like driving from KL to Kajang. Ooh.. Breakfast was delicious Nasi Dagang. Yum.. Then immediately we went sight seeing and ended up at Pengkalan Kubor, border to Thailand. There’s a tax-free shopping place there but it feels like a prison more than anything because there were two layers of fence and when we left the area we had to go through the imigration.

Oh.. Next stop was this beautiful beach which was once called Pantai Cinta Berahi (Beach of Passionate Love). Beats me why it was named so. However, since the state govt changed hands, it was renamed Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Beach of Moonlight). Well, this picture will tell you how pretty it is.

We also went to Kuala Terengganu. It’s a neat little town. Everything is nearby and organised. The whole town is probably as big as the whole of Cheras combined. Neat eh? We went to the museum and only had enough energy to see one part of the huge museum. We left out another 4 places.

Just one more picture as I try my best to make everyone aware of the dying trade of traditional boat making.

Ok that’s a short highlight on my trip up north. Hehe.. Till the next time!!! Adios.

I hate exams…!!!

September 13, 2007 at 1:05 pm · Filed under Uncategorized

Every student will echo my words. We all hate exams. It is not fair to use exams to grade us. Some have super power memory and can literally photocopy everything in the text book and transfer to the answer script. What good does this make to our class of degree? Does it make one any better than a 2nd class lower honours holder?

Exams give us more stress than one can ever imagine. It makes our stomach churn and gastric juices working extra hard as we worry about the sort of questions that would probably come out. Then we feel that we have not studied quite enough and we go alll hay-wire looking for more questions to cram into our super-exhausted brain…

Sigh… To the creator of exams… I have only one thing to say… GET A LIFE!!! Stop torturing us.

Hello everybody! I have been missing for a long time. I just checked.. my last blog was on the study week last semester. And it’s study week again for this semester. That means I have not written anything in a whole semester! Not that anyone missed me right? Hehe… This semester has been real great fun… I’m now a final year student (what does that tell you?) and I have 2 semesters to go before I graduate. Hehehe..

We had a torturous assignment season this semester. My friends – Siew Ming, Sook Hun and Amanda, and Iwere mentally and physically drained at the end of the assignment season… So we went for a little private celebration. Hehehe.. BBQ Steamboat just the 4 of us..

dsc00388.jpgThis is Siew Ming. We all love her very much because she entertains us with all her cute animated words and actions.. Muacks!

This is Amanda. My “tai ka che” as well as our driver. Hehe.. dsc00370.jpg

Boring week..

April 18, 2007 at 4:17 pm · Filed under Uncategorized

When I woke up this morning, I thought I should write something today. As I was thinking of all the possible topics to write about, I realised that I have plenty to write about. Yes, in fact too many that I don’t know where to begin. So I’ll just write about my boring week and the intense pressure awaiting me next week.

It’s my study leave week. That means that next week marks the beginning of my final exams. Sigh.. Don’t we all hate it! I particularly detest exams because I have problem concentrating on what I have to study. The worst thing is a million and one things pop out in my mind.. I wonder when this will end. It’s truly depressing.

The Leopard

April 7, 2007 at 4:03 pm · Filed under Compositions

I found this in my desktop the other day. I wrote this composition when I was in form 4. Wow.. that’s 5 years ago now. Just thought of sharing with you what I wrote 5 years ago. Hahaha… Hey, I don’t write much nowadays.. Yayaya I know I know, I should start again. ENJOY..!

THE LEOPARD

Few animals are as mysterious as the leopard. A member of the feline family, the leopard is regarded as “the most beautiful of the large cats”. True to its title, it is beautiful in appearance and graceful in its movements. The leopard weighs 125 pounds or more and is on an average over 2 feet tall at the shoulder and 7 feet from its nose to its tail tip. There are black spots arranged in rosettes on its tawny coats which contribute to its handsome looks. Its luminous green eyes, equipped with a special layer of cells – the tapetum – gives it extraordinary night vision. The leopard’s rapid breathing serves as an efficient cooling system. By panting up 150 times a minute, moisture evaporates from its tongue, mouth and nasal passages.

The leopard can be found in deserts and forests; in mountains and at sea level; in lands as diverse as Africa, Southern Asia, Middle and Far East. Despite human encroachment on much of the leopard’s habitat, scientists estimate that there are nearly a million of them in Africa and
Asia alone. Even so, for centuries, the leopard eluded serious scientific study. For example, the Sinai leopard was long considered extinct until recently rediscovered in the wilderness of Judea.

How does the leopard escape human notice? It does so by being primarily a nocturnal beast, and an exceedingly stealthy and secretive one at that. In places where man poses a threat, the leopard is cautiously silent. Only when angered will it emit threatening lionlike growls and coughs. Under normal circumstances, its vocalisation is far less intimidating. Being a solitary animal, the leopard stakes out a claim of personal territory which covers from 10 to 15 square miles. It sprays secretion from special glands in its body to delineate the boundaries of its home range. To protect its looting from scavengers, it stores its larger kills in the fork of a tree, some 30 to 40 feet above the ground. The leopard tends to be shy and retiring and will avoid every possible confrontation with man. In addition, the leopard is an adaptable creature. This can be seen by its various habitats.

Sadly, the number of leopards is decreasing over the years. This species is threatened by extinction. Take for an example the snow leopard. It is listed as an endangered species with an estimate of 3500 to 7000 snow leopards left. Poachers have contributed towards the reduction of their population as their greed for leopard’s fur increases. Leopard fur is used in the fashion industries as it gives adequate warmth and fashionable style. Besides that, when the leopard is found endangering the livestock, farmers seek to kill them. In countries such as China, the leopard is hunted to prepare traditional medicine for certain ailments.

In view of the seriousness of the situation, certain measures have been taken to preserve these precious inhabitants of the earth. The snow leopard, for instance, is quite successfully bred by the Helsinki Zoo, Finland. In fact, in 1976, this facility was assigned to keep the international studbook of the snow leopard. The studbook contains all the details of this particular species. Zoos are responsible to inform the studbook keeper of births, deaths and transfers of the leopards. The studbook is also used to select suitable breeding partners for captive animals. Game reserves, such as the Masai Mara Game Reserves in Kenya, have been set up to conserve these wildlife. Laws have been enforced in striving to curb poaching of the leopard. Fur farms have been set up to accommodate the thirst of fashion.

Based on the facts presented, we can rightly conclude that the leopard is indeed a magnificent creature. Truly, the leopard makes a lasting impression in our minds and gives credit to the wisdom and power of a Grand Creator.

Chinese New Year Holidays..!

February 21, 2007 at 11:59 pm · Filed under Anything special

It’s CNY again.. Not that I don’t like it (hey, I get a week off from college, what’s there to complain?!). The Chinese New Year is rather special in the sense that I get to see my extended family for once in a whole year. It’s really nice to spend some time with relatives. This year is particularly special because we went down to JB to visit my grandma and we met all my dad’s siblings there. It really was a “once in a lifetime” thing, as my aunt put it. To add to the “special-ness” my uncle from the US came back. So it was great seeing everyone from the Chan family after 5 years.

We spent reunion dinner night and CNY night with my mum’s family. I was kinda bored after dinner and I was taking pictures of my mum and her sisters.

dsc00308.JPG this is a photo of my mum and her sisters and their spouses. Hehe..! Seldom get to take pictures like this.
